Chesapeake PERL and Battelle Announce the Formation of an Alliance
Battelle, a global leader in science and technology, and Chesapeake PERL, Inc. (C-PERL), a manufacturer of recombinant proteins, today announced the formation of an alliance to support and service clients.
Battelle and C-PERL together will offer seamless and integrated solutions for clients, from protein processing and purification to preclinical animal studies.
"Our alliance with C-PERL allows us to now offer protein manufacturing, along with the full scope of product characterization, toxicology, clinical, and medical device development services we already provide," states Battelle’s Mark Gritz, Vice President, Health and Life Sciences Division. "Jointly we can enhance our customer's ability to rapidly progress their products from discovery to development to commercialization.”
The high cost and risk associated with developing new drugs and biological products highlights the need of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries to reduce product development cycle times. The combination of Battelle and C-PERL capabilities provides these industries an opportunity to move their recombinant protein products from discovery to rapid production of milligram quantities to the commercial market more quickly and effectively. As a result, companies can concentrate on their core competencies and sharply focus their spending plans.
